A television, a tablet, a computer. Three devices at home: do you need to pay for three connections? To find out, look at what plays at the same time, on the same service. Imagine a fictional evening. The television plays from seven until eight. The tablet starts at seven thirty and stops at eight thirty. For thirty minutes, two programmes play together. The computer starts at nine, after both earlier streams have stopped. The peak is two simultaneous streams, even though three devices were used. Count each service separately. Two different subscriptions do not automatically share one allowance. A profile organizes preferences. A licence activates an application under its terms. Neither guarantees an extra stream. Check what your actual subscription permits. Watch out for multiview too: several channels on one screen may open several streams. Casting to a television and recording have their own rules. Ask how your application and provider count them. There is another distinction: two permitted streams do not necessarily mean two permitted homes. Before watching at home and at the cottage at the same time, confirm the location and sharing rules. Does the second screen fail? First, record the exact message. A stream-limit warning and a loading screen call for different checks. Deliberately stop the first stream, then test the second device using the service's support instructions. There is no universal delay for releasing a session. Finally, separate the account allowance from network capacity. A faster router does not add a stream to your subscription. And permission for two streams does not guarantee good Wi-Fi in every room. Find the calculator and checks in the OfficialOTT guide. Prepare four answers: how many streams at once, which devices, which locations, and which features. Then test your everyday scenario before paying.
