Before installing an app on Android TV or Google TV, run five checks. First, confirm the exact model and the interface on screen. Google TV runs on Android TV OS, but not every Android TV device has the Google TV interface.

Next, test the Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Third, check free storage and system updates.

Fourth, find the app through Google Play or the TV’s Apps tab. Confirm the publisher and availability for that device. A mobile version is not automatically compatible with a television.

Finally, review the permissions, then test the remote, picture, sound, captions and playback. If something fails, restart the app and the device before clearing data or performing a factory reset.

With Official OTT, you check the right layer in the right order.

1. Before you begin

The video is a checklist, not a demonstration of every menu. Setting names and locations depend on your model and system version. An app available on a phone is not necessarily compatible with a television.

If a step does not match your screen, identify the exact model and consult the manufacturer's support. Do not clear data or reset the device just to find a menu.
